The National Novena to Our Lady of Knock, one of the highest profile events in the Irish Church’s annual calendar, has been cancelled for the first time since , over concerns around pilgrim. The apparition was witnessed by 15 local people, young and old. This Chapel was designed by Architects de Blacam & Meagher following an Architectural competition inwhich was held by Monsignor Greally, P.P., and Director of the Knock Shrine at this time. Going to Confessions or receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation is an important part of pilgrimage at Knock.
The Chapel of Reconciliation offers a peaceful quiet space in which to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Central to the Apparition at Knock is the Lamb upon the altar, ” The Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.”.
The chapel unites architectural and ecological modernity with remembrance, standing as a triumph against its predecessor's destruction. Its memorial and reconciliation roles are recognised by the chapel being part of Berlin Wall Memorial (Gedenkstaette Berliner Mauer) and with it being included in Coventry Cathedral’s Community of the Cross of Nails: a world symbol for reconciliation and Chapel of Reconciliation.
From counselling to prayer guidance, youth ministry to the Chapel of Reconciliation, the Knock Shrine Bookshop, the Carmelite Monastery, from Stewards and Handmaids, we get a range of perspectives on what makes Knock so special both to individual pilgrims and to the wider Irish church.

There are five churches altogether in Knock. These include the Apparition Church, Parish Church, Basilica, Blessed Sacrament Chapel and Chapel of Reconciliation.
There is also a religious book shop, a caravan and camping park, a hotel, museum and beautiful gardens around the complex.
